An Epic Quest - Make money online

Small business VoIP

September 12th, 2007

There are so many things that a business owner or entrepreneur needs to take care of in order to really get the ball rolling for their company. One of those frequently overlooked things happens to be phone connections and service. How does a company get quick, easy, and cheap phone service without breaking their backs over it? Here is one solution: small business phone systems from Packet8.

If I were running my own small business, I would probably decide to splurge on the technology and go for the videophones. Who doesn’t want videophones in their office? Packet8 offers a phone that delivers high-quality, full-motion video and clear, delay free audio over any broadband internet connection. There is nothing cooler than being able to see the person you’re talking to on a little screen coming off your phone! It appears to even be quick to set up and use!

To go with my business’s videophones, I would have to choose the Freedom Unlimited plan. I would choose this simply because it is the most flexible and offers me the most room for expansion. Of course my business will be booming, so my phones will be ringing off the hook!

Packet8 offers tons of different plans and services. To see more, you’ll have to check out their site. So go VoIP today and save some big money. No more phone bills for you!

Become more productive with a calendar

September 12th, 2007

calendar

Everyone knows what it is. Some people swear by it while others simply ignore it. I’m talking about the typical wall or pocket calendar. Did you know that you can become oh so much more efficient and productive if you decide to start using one? Well, you can, and here’s why/how.

By writing down every appointment, due date, schedule, or anything else, you will take a huge burden off yourself. Typically, you would have to memorize all these dates, but with a calendar, you can worry about other things and check it each day. Whether it be a pocket sized one or one on the wall, it doesn’t matter. Get those numbers and places out of your head and on paper.

Using a calendar, you are much more likely to be punctual and ready for wherever you have to be. Whenever you are attempting to schedule a doctor’s appointment, haircut, or anything similar, you no longer have to stand there racking your brains for conflicts. Instead, you simply flip the pages and see what else you have on those days. It’s that easy. (more…)

Learning a programming language

September 12th, 2007

So I’ve picked up a recent hobby in programming for the internet. The possibility of making money by creating web applications has roped me in! I narrowed down my goals to learning Python and Django. I also began brainstorming on possible creations once I get adjusted in my new hobby. I’ve recently resumed blogging on my other sites and will hopefully do so on here too, so enjoy those! For now, you can read my two most recent posts on programming and the process of learning a new programming language.

Properly Learn a Programming Language in 10 Steps - Brnzwngs.com

Django and Python Motivation - Awkwardalliteration.com

Maybe these will help you! Look forward to some more self development and money related posts in the near future. My schedule is beginning to free up!

Quick Bucks During School Year

June 20th, 2007

Are you always just a little bit too short on money to go out with the gang on Friday night? Well, a great way to make a quick extra buck or two while at school is to simply offer your services. For example, I have built up a good reputation at my school for designing posters, advertisements, and anything communication media-related by doing some pro bono work. Now I have a couple jobs from the film department to 1) Rebrand the Zoom Film Festival identity; including letterheads, logos, website, etc. 2) Network all Apple computers in film department to act as a sandbox apart from the main school network while maintaining internet access (unrestricted, yay!).  By having built up a good reputation during the school year by doing some volunteer work has I have been able to make a few easy dollars at the end of the schoolyear with some pretty high-profile stuff in my opinion.

The CIA is Rotting From the Inside

June 19th, 2007

Michael Weston had been working for the Central Intelligence Agency for the last three years and was a top operative stationed internally watching high-profile terror suspects. He has three kids; one six year old girl, Aleda; and two twin boys, John and Michael, aged three. His wife and kids had been living in Pittsburgh when Michael comes home from Miami after he was on a two-week scope-out.
“Hey, hun. You’re home early?” said his wife questioningly; she could tell there was something eating Michael.
“Yeah… I got burned.”
“Burned? What, why, when were you burned?” she responded hastily, obviously concerned and somewhat flabbergasted.
Michael walks through the hallway to the kitchen and grabs a bottle of Jack Daniel’s.
“Apparently I was too much of a security risk because I ” - Michael takes a swig and swishes around the liquor in his mouth before spewing it into the sink - “started questioning Al’s tactics when it came to my return firing in Miami when I was shot at by hostiles.”
Michael pauses while taking another swig of Jack Daniel’s.
“He Goddamn put me in that situation on purpose, he sent me in there full-well knowing that the hostiles would be waiting for me at the drop zone.” Michael said, still emotional from the burning.

Find out what really happened to Michael Weston on USA Network’s Burn Notice.

Pennies Between the Cushions

June 19th, 2007

Have you ever done a small little errand or chore for a family member or your boss; say grab some coffee from Starbucks or to go put some change in the parking meter? Did you get a seemingly unessential amount of cash for your hardships; say five or ten dollars? Did you blow that money on some random stuff with no real value to you later, leaving you wishing you hadn’t? Well it sure has happened to me plenty of times and there is only one way to stop. Save up. Just save up the little pocket change you get or find every now and then. In the end it will start adding up and you will be afford something with a bit more chutzpah. Hey, in the end: money is money, don’t waste it.

Want a toke? No thank you!

June 15th, 2007

I don’t feel that Nick has stressed this issue enough; drugs are bad. Yes, it may seem ironic coming from me, but trust me, you really don’t want to get sucked in to the habitual or even addicting use of drugs. I have seen people including relatives just too screwed up to function and they have been able to recover, fortunately enough. But it isn’t always that easy for others and they end up needing help and if they don’t get that help it’s quite possible for them to end up on the streets running from whatever it was that scared them away from their abode in the first place. They should make it required to watch the movie Requiem For a Dream in highschool, it is the most disturbing movie about drugs you will ever watch. Period. It shows you how it can be all great and fun when you first get into it, but it really isn’t; once you get to the end of that movie you never want to touch a thing again.

What about those people who weren’t able to make those decisions earlier on, before they lost control? Drug rehabilitation programs is one way. Sometimes it can be hard to find the right ones that suit your needs though and you don’t know where to start looking. This is where you can help yourself or that person you really care about. Pass along the number 1-800-NoDrugs for information and resources regarding drug treatment.

1-800-NoDrugs is a drug rehabilitation referral service. They will find the ideal drug rehab that suits your needs, it takes out all the grievances of finding the drug rehabilitation centre that’s right for you and just delivers. They are 100% free and are a great non-profit organization aimed at helping the needy. They aren’t just limited to North America either, they offer “an International network of drug rehab treatment centers for all types of alcoholism, drug addiction, substance abuse, dual diagnosis, and chronic relapse clients.” So even if you are from Geneva you can find help with 1-800-NoDrugs.

Please, find a way out of the hole if you are in it.

Stability

June 15th, 2007

I have had two major career choices this year; they were at opposite ends of the jobosphere, but I was passionate about them. The first career that I was seriously considering was Advertising, I had everything planned out for the next four years of my life; undergraduate school, graduate school, firms I wanted to do my internship at, and so forth. I really wanted to eventually be an Advertising Sales Director, but I also wanted to actually work on the design side of it. They were different if you ask me; for one job you needed a marketing degree and probably another degree in business, and for the other was some art schooling. Big difference… I did eventually make a huge career jump back in February or March; I wanted to become a doctor. Not just any doctor either: I wanted to be a neurologist. Again I have most things semi-planned out regarding schooling, but I am leaving this to be somewhat more dynamic, I want to be able to switch it up later on.

How does any of this relate to stability? Well, I still really want to be an advertiser and designer, but the problem with having that as my primary occupation is just that: stability. I don’t think it would provide me with a stable income if I were to just work as a freelance designer. Sure it’d be lots of fun and pay great when you have a client (London 2012, anyone?), but what about those periods when there are no jobs available at that time? That’s when I decided I would do my designing during school, I already do it plenty for my highschool, but I will also have it as a part-time job during university. It works to help pay off my student loans and is less academic than all those biochemistry courses I will be taking! One of the main reasons I decided to switch to becoming a doctor is not jsut because I love Grey’s Anatomy, but also because it is far more stable. That is what’s important.
